The pic to the left is Bitsy's profile which is what is commonly referred to as an "Applehead". In the Chihuahua standard the word applehead is not used nor is the word deerhead. AKC has the standard spelled out if you would like to read it, at AKC.org go to breed standard. People have asked me numerous times what an "Applehead" looks like . As a pup, an "Applehead" has a very short nose, you can tell if the nose is going to be long on a young Chi pup by wrinkles along the sides of the nose. As the pup's nose gets longer the wrinkles disappear. In short the long nose skin was already there, to accomodate the longer nose.
